I wrote a short story in first grade and the teacher read it aloud at the parent-teacher conference. In 1995, my dreams of literary stardom in Ukraine were shattered when my family immigrated to New York City. Thankfully, all was not lost. I went to school for Magazine Journalism and Creative Writing, writing about strippers and molecular cuisine.
Then, "Mad Men" came along. Like lots of impressionable young ladies, I thought Don Draper was the coolest (besides, you know, the terrible life choices). I began to freelance for websites and moved back to New York to work in advertising. After years of agency life, I threw caution to the wind and traveled for over a year, winding my way through the streets of Odesa, the city of my birth, and the jungles of Thailand. After realizing that I’m not cut out for the digital nomad life, I moved back to San Francisco where I work with mission-driven tech companies that want to leave the world better than they found it.
I write everything from brand campaigns to web tests and growth ads to research questions that help us get to know our customers. I enjoy mentoring junior Copywriters, developing a brand voice and presence, and launching campaigns that speak to the real-life needs of our customers.
A few other tidbits:
I’m writing my first fiction novel.
Pasta cures all ills. Unless you have celiac, of course.
I focus on what can be improved, not what went wrong.
